All initiated members of the Beyhive, black culture enthusiasts, friends, aunties and cousins alike will forever remember the day that Beyonce’ blessed us with Homecoming.
Prior to the album drop, which if you are a true Yonce’ fan you already used your BeyHive Spidey senses to see this coming, Beyonce’ and Netflix revealed artwork for an upcoming film highlighting her 2018 Coachella Beychella performance. Much to our delight, on April 17 in conjunction with the film release, Homecoming: The Live Albumwas dropped and on this day in history all planned productivity ceased.
The bright and powerful sounds of the horns coupled with Beyonce’s melodic vocals, which were anchored by the thunderous cadence of the drumline was a sensory celebration. If you didn’t find yourself reliving the good ole’ Destiny’s Child Days, imitating the final Drumlinesequence between Devin Miles and Big Brother Shawn or being slain in the Beyonce’ spirit then… you should reevaluate life. Just kidding.
This experience and project birthed by Beyonce’ Giselle Knowles-Carter was more than a moment. It was a movement. It was a call to arms and action that put our HBCUs and black culture at the immediate forefront. Mrs. Carter, you did that and for your impact we are grateful.
