“The Last Dance” Viewers Have One Question…Where Is Juanita Jordan?

“The Last Dance” took over the homes of many these past few Sundays. After the final two episodes wrapped this past weekend, it left fans asking the question… why didn’t we see Juanita Jordan?

The 10-part docuseries follows the Bulls’ 1997-98 season from start to finish and covers the remaining chapters in Michael Jordan’s outstanding career in the NBA. It also gave us tons of new Jordan memes to use for years to come.

Black Twitter started asking why they didn’t see more of Juanita Jordan, the ex-wife of the basketball superstar, in this epic documentary. The two were married in 1989 and she was by his side for 17 years before getting divorced in 2006. They share 3 children together – Jasmine, Jeffrey, and Marcus Jordan.

Jasmine Jordan, their only daughter, opened up to Essence about why her mother was not included in the project. She said:

“At the end of the day, if you’d ask my mom, she lived it. There’s no need to go down memory lane and bring up everything that has already happened when the proof is in the pudding. She was at the championship. She was at the retirement ceremony. We saw her in her glory…so no, I don’t think there’s a need to rehash and go through it all. She already lived it.”

And she’s right. Juanita Jordan was there, even participating in advertising campaigns with her ex-husband like the 1992 Hanes commercial that also included Michael Jordan’s late father.

“The Last Dance” broke records with 6.1 million viewers when the first two episodes debuted and now holds the title of the most viewed documentary in ESPN history.

Do you think the docuseries should’ve highlighted Michael Jordan’s first marriage or did they do a good job of keeping some things off-limits?
