The world is showing just how we can come together and lend a helping hand in the midst of chaos.
With COVID-19 changing our new norm, many celebs have taken the initiative to help those in need. On Tuesday, NFL quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson and his wife, singer, Ciara pledged one million meals to Seattle’s Food Lifeline organization.
As people are urged to practice social distancing and to stay indoors, Ciara took to Instagram saying “the world needs us ALL. These are unprecedented times.” Many families are unable to provide the basic necessities at home, but thankfully those who are fortunate enough to give back are blessing those with little to no resources.
Along with the Wilsons, superstar couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have pledged $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada during this time. Now that the NBA has suspended all season games after several players tested positive for COVID-19, arena employees are out of work. So Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers announced a commitment of $100,000 to support arena staff and NBA rookie, Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans, also stepped forward to cover the salaries for the Smoothie King Center employees.
Many others have come forth including Justin Timberlake, Steph Curry, and Jimmy Fallon as the US continues to tackle the pandemic. While we know there’s a lot going wrong in the world, these stories provide a glimmer of hope for humanity as we use our resources to help those in need.
