The highly anticipated REVOLT Summit touched down in Atlanta for the first time ever earlier this month, and of course, aspireTV was in the building.
Formerly known as the Revolt Music Conference, the three-day event took over the city’s 787 Windsor venue- a central hub for Atlanta’s most exciting activations-allowing roughly 1500 eager attendees to listen to engaging panels, interact with celebs and participate in an all-new way to network, learn and grow.
“We as a people need a platform to discuss our issues and topics that interest us and our quality of life,” said Diddy aka Sean Combs, event creator and founder of REVOLT network. (He’s also a legendary music producer, label owner, mogul, visionary, etc.…but you should know that already). He put his money where his mouth is and created that very platform through the Revolt Summit.
The hottest names in the industry attended the event to school future generations on how to not only break into the industry, but remaining relevant once you’re in. Break-out sessions included the capitalization and advancement of the culture and there were also discussions led to open up the minds of present and past generations as to how the industry is steadily evolving and what efforts they can take to support and uplift those who will carry on hip-hop into a new era.
Summit attendees were able to dive into a variety of topics related to the entertainment industry and the culture. From Mona Scott Young’s – the force behind one of the most successful reality TV franchises, Love & Hip Hop – masterclass on producing TV greatness, to the now viral panel on hip-hop and politics featuring T.I., Killer Mike, & Candance Owens, there was something for everyone in attendance . One panel even included the Combs Cartel, where Diddy and his sons – Justin, Christian and Quincy – spoke on the importance of building a legacy with the realest on your team.
And of course, there were parties.
Everyone knows that no one can throw a party like Diddy, so there were fun events to end each day, including a Welcome to Atlanta concert at the end of Day 1 and The Revolt Block Party at the end of Day 2.
Probably the most important element of the summit was the opportunity for attendees to have 1:1 meetings with the biggest names in the industry, to learn how to make the next steps in their career. There was even a pop-up were summit-goers could receive free professional headshots to include in their portfolios as they make strides in their careers.
The REVOLT Summit 2019 highlighted the importance of preserving the culture and just how nobody got us like we got us. Next month, the summit moves to LA and Combs promises that this won’t be the last that you hear of it.
Looks like Diddy was ahead of his time when he first uttered “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” in the 90s as the saga to embracing and uplifting the culture continues.
