77th Golden Globes Style Recap

The 2020 Award Season kicked off last night with the 77thGolden Globes and we are here for this time of year.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page – we’re mainly here for the fashions as award shows have a long way to go when it comes to acknowledging Black talent and all of our attributions to Hollywood and the entertainment industry.

But that’s a story for another day.

What we do know is that we always show up and show out on every red carpet. Check out some of our favorite looks last night.

Billy Porter

And the category is….!

Well, whatever it is, we know that he is going to SLAY it! In custom Alex Vinash, Porter serves us what he called “Black Swan Realness” with an angelic feathered look that featured a detachable train.

To top it off, Porter sported over $2 million worth of Tiffany & Co. fine jewels further proving that whatever the category is, Porter will always dominate!

Kerry Washington

Okay so our good sis literally came and shut the carpet down. No really everyone else could’ve went home after Kerry hit the scene. For this year’s Golden Globes, she partnered with celebrity stylist Law Roach for the first time and let’s just say that they made a lasting first impression.

In a daring Altuzarra blazer and skirt from the label’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection, Kerry was blinged out with sparkling jewels attached to the skirt that draped over her bare dress. She definitely served us a lewk at this year’s Golden Globes sporting something that we wouldn’t normally see her in.

Cynthia Erivo

Much like her performance in Harriet, she wowed us in a Thom Browne tuxedo dress that was blinged out with black crystals, pearl embroidery and sequins. In a gown that took 800 hours to create, Erivo turned heads by pairing it with a Bulgari necklace worth $3 million- talk about bling bling.

Winnie Harlow

The stunning model really put a new perspective on the “little black dress” which was practically dripping with not only glitter but a little Old Hollywood charm with a super high leg slit. This look, designed by LaQuan Smith, reminded us that the roaring ‘20s are back – except this time with a little more razzle dazzle.

Beyonce’

Now we all know that it’s an honor to even have queen Bey show up for an event- so it’s no surprise to us that she opted out of the red carpet, but still made it to the Golden Globes ceremony….but only after the show started. This morning she posted her own pics, accompanied by a beautiful backdrop that a red carpet just simply couldn’t compete with, in a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture black gown with enormous metallic gold puffy sleeves.

As if her presence at the show wasn’t enough, she decided to accessorize with over 250 carats of diamond drop earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

Our sis definitely made a statement for her return to the Globes as that her last appearance was over 10 years ago in 2009. She and hubby, Jay Z even brought their own bottles of Ace of Spades to pop at the event-talk about life goals
